"StopmoNick, Thank you for the nice comments. I thought indeed that if I would make a good armature an animal with 4 legs would be able to walk proper. But alas it was more difficult than I thought. It took me a lot of time to get the rat walking a…"

"An appealing rat character, and a good ending!  And you have the character offscreen at the beginning and end, so it's a good clean loop. You could do a little more with the nose twitching when he sniffs, if the snout is flexible.…"

"Dear all, So I finally finished my new small project. What do you thin how my lighting worked out?I'm quite enthusiastic about it but am probably not critical enough? The clip was made for the Loopdeloop.org challenge, "Power""

Wasted Rat LoopdeLoop

For the Power challenge from LoopdeLoop.org of September 2017, I made this small stop-motion animation. A little rat is squeaking and sniffing around and finds some waste to eat. Bon appétit little rat! (Various sound samples from Freesound.org…

Small project I did to enter the loopdeLoop challenge

Hello all,Today I finished my small project for the loopdeLoop September animation challenge. My main reason to enter was the fact that I didn't make an stop-motion clip during a few years due to work and stuff:) So I needed to get in or on? it again with purpose. I used another camera, I used a new set with new lights and-so-on. So there was  a lot of testing going on before I started animating and since I mostly have grand and often…See More

"I use Puppet Putty, the clay developed by Don Carlson, animator member of this web. It is harder than normal clay and don't leaves pigment in your hands nor oil waste."

"Did you mean to include a shot of the problem ? Assuming by ' underground' you mean the floor or base of the set, I would think the answer is to seal the base with something like a Matt varnish."

"In the end we have to accept that none of these cameras were designed to be used for stopmotion, so we have to overcome all those clever helpful things the manufacturers add to make ordinary use of their cameras as easy as possible. Having said…"

"The camera you have probably doesn't allow full manual control, and seems to be adjusting exposure automatically for when the dalek is on or off the set. You could try a test where you have a bright empty frame and then put a large dark object…"

What to do about staining by plastinella

Hello all,For a new project I'm using Lyra Modello Schoolplast. I don't know if anybody has used this before? My problem with it is that it stains very easily on my underground. You can see it in the shot, small oily stains where a puppet or something has touched the underground.Am I doing something wrong? Do I use the wrong kind of plastinella / plasticine?…See More
