Hi everyone!


I have been hired to setup a mid-high end animation studio space for commercial projects and rental purposes. The studio will be running dragonframe and I am looking for a motion control rig that easily integrates and uses the motion control programming built into the software.

I know there is the new 'Volo' rig that is designed specifically for that purpose so I just wanted to know how it compares to the more expensive 'Animoko Rig' from Mark Roberts? I would also like to know what heads people have used with either of these rigs?

Info from anyone who has used either of these rigs would be really helpful!

Well, the volocrane seems to connect to the Dragon 3 axis head- look at the other thread:

there is a new post from a chap with a commercially available 2 axis head..

actually , digging deeper he has a 3 axis head too just launched- and I have to say the prices look more reasonable than i expected- i could be tempted...


hope that helps- a 3 axis head, combined with a robust slider would efinitely make for a very versatile moco system.

Where are you setting up this studio, btw?

I've been to a demo of the Volo rig at Clapham Road Studios, who just recently purchased it, and it is very sophisticated and pleasant to use. Also not very expensive! I have used the Animoko Rig myself, but the Volo seems very straight forward. I had a play around with it, and even I could get it as it's very visual and quite intuitive to set up :]
