Hello! I'm looking for some good Stop Motion feature films or longer short films that I haven't seen.

Anyone got any tips on some good films to watch? I am aware (and seen alot) of all the new ones like Aardmans, Laika, Fantastic Mr Fox, Mary and Max, the Tim Burton, Harryhausen and Svankmajers films. But Im sure there is alot  that I haven't seen.

Any nation and genre. Any tips?

That sounds like a good start already. There are also the films by the Brothers Quay, which I think a few can be found on Netflix, and others are available in DVD collections. If you're interested in old film there is an extensive history of Czech and Russian stop motion, from 1920s-30s all the way through to today. Another modern recommendation I have is $9.99, an Israeli/Australian film directed by Tatia Rosenthal. Some shorts that can be found on Youtube fairly easily are 'Madame Tutli Putli', 'The Periwig Maker', and 'Balance'. All of those shorts are definitely deserve a watch (or two, or three). Often Vimeo has a better (or at least easier to find) selection of stop motion films than Youtube. Just navigate through their categories and you'll be able to find a bunch in one place, or sometimes stop motion specific groups.

I'm sure some of the other folks here have a much more extensive knowledge of animation history that I'm sure will pass on their suggestions.

There's a thread in the Stop Motion Films forum with loads of great suggestions: Looking for independent shorts/features to watch

That's going to be independent films of course, but then those are some of the coolest ones, aren't they?

I have clips from a lot of my favorite European stopmotion films posted on my old Darkstrider.net site: Clips from some of Eastern Europe's greatest masters. There are some more clips on my Masters page as well, a lot of them are the same clips but there should be some others there too. This is the stuff that inspired Tim Burton as well as Jan Svankmajer and the Brothers Quay (look them up on youtube as well - lots of great stuff). Also try Bruce Bickford. Enough for this post.

I really like these…

Thanks guys! Many nice tips! Now I have some stop motion to watch!

Feature stopmotion (creature type) reached its technical zenith in the 80's and 90's in films like Willow, Dragonslayer, The Coneheads (yes, the Coneheads), The Gate and The Gate 2, I Madman, Flesh Gordon, Laserblast, Robot Jox, Howard the Duck, Caveman, and Robocop. I'm sure there are more, but that's all that's coming to mind at the moment.

A Town Called Panic is a pure joy to watch

Jiri Barta's Pied Piper of Hamelin is really amazing.

Also, I second "A Town Called Panic"

Here are a few relatively recent works:

Fly Mill https://vimeo.com/58495419  animation from Estonia

Omega   https://vimeo.com/92022684    awesome post-apocalyptic landscape

Trepan Hole   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTQaEGldlRE   Unusual use of post production masking and foley effects.

Move Mountain   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZ9d4MHqEzg     AdventureTime animator's side project.

PS.  Uh oh some of these aren't super long.
