What is the best program to use? I know some DSLR compatible software like StopMotionPro7 have a chroma key feature, but does this let you combine it with live action? Before I used CompositeLabPro, but for some weird reason it made my live action speed up in time with the stop motion.
Here is your answer.
I use VirtualDub to create sequential jpegs from my live action video. I chroma key each background "frame" into the scene. This way, I can match the movement of the model to the live action. I am using a web cam, but see no reason why this would not work with a DSLR. I use claymation studio from Honestech to composite the shot. I would assume that StopMotionPro 7 would work even better. If I don't have to match movement frame by frame, I use Wax2.0 to composite the model (shot against a greenscreen) with the background video (avi). As for CompositeLabPro speeding up the live action, this could have something to do with the frame rate. I would try different frame rates to see if this corrects the live action. This will also affect your animation. You may have to find the best compromise between the two elements.
