Working on my first armature. About 8 inches tall. Using M2x10mm screws with locknuts to hold ball and socket joints together. I then use J-B Weld around lock nuts to keep them from turning and also on leg and elbow joints to only have one bendable joint.

These things are a lot of work! I still need to figure out the feet tie-downs and add hands and then will be starting to work on a head. Wish me luck!

looks good but it would be better to have the plates opposite on the elbows and legs

Hi, what do you mean by "plates opposite"?

like at the elbow if the ball was attached to the upper arm and the plates to the lower arm you will be able to rotate the arm to simulate the upper arm rotation.
Does that make sense?

See attachment and see how the elbow is set up compare to your elbow

Hi, Yeah, I think I understand. I was trying to do away with the double ball and socket joint at elbows and knees. This is my first armature, I have very little to work with, so I used the square tubing and JB Weld to make part of the arm and leg stationary. Finding parts for these things is very challenging, especially trying to keep size down. The armature moves pretty good I guess...although I've never had one before so I'm just guessing.

Thanks for the advice and input, hopefully, (fingers crossed) I'll be able to post a video eventually of some animation tests.

Awesome! I'm new to armature building as well. I'd love to follow your progress!
