Hello everyone! nice to be here.

I am an animator based in Buenos Aires, Argentina travelling to New York City. Can you guys let me know where can i find the best supplies over there?
I'm looking for good wires, rigs, armatures, assorted kinds of glue, tacky wax, good quality clay, modelling tools and whatever you people think i should try. Maybe Platsil or a better kind of silicone, paint, etc. Here we build everything in a very rudimentary way with hard wires and a limited amount of options regarding glue and tools.

If you want to check our animations you can go to our website! www.cancanclub.com.ar

Thank you in advance!

Hi Mariano - I live in New York (Long Island) and the best store I know of is called 'The Compleat Sculptor'  which is in lower Manhattan in New York City. They've got a lot of supplies for mold making and casting, sculpting and other useful stuff for stop motion puppet making. But I still order a lot of other supplies from companies around the country that are not available here.

The Compleat Sculptor has armature wire and do buy some of what they carry but I also order annealed armature wire from a different company sometimes because it moves better. (as an example) That store does carry a variety of silicones for both mold making and casting.

But that store doesn't cater to stop motion puppet makers so, don't expect to find ball & socket armatures or surface gauges there. But when I order materials from other companies, they always come very quickly and sometimes that's even the better choice because even though I'm close to New York City, it can still take the most of a day for me to go there and get what I need.

Here's a link to the store... The Compleat Sculptor

Also, I have a list of places I regularly order things I can't buy locally so, just ask here and also look in the online store at  - AnimateClay.com

Thank you Ron, i'll check all this.
