ENDEAVOUR-
A fiery lighthouse and a getaway boat.

I really like the set, and the way you put different elements together!  And a good solution to the problem of water, you showed the sea in the distance but it is below the edge of frame up close.   It's good the way the boat rocks as it drifts away too, helps us believe the waves are there.  It would be nice to add a bit of a splash as the boat hits - the sound effect helps but seeing a bit of water splash up would be even better.

Thanks StopmoNick I really appreciate your feed back. I agree a splash of water would have been better than the sound alone. I have just started a new animation, I think this one is going to be more exciting, and more refined:)

As "first stop motion projects" go, this is GREAT! Your lighting is diffuse and even, and you seem to have incorporated skills from other backgrounds into the set construction and overall look. I especially like the rocks, inner room on fire, and waves (how did you do the water?!)

Thanks Don:) The water was composited in using nuke (non-commercial). I keyed out the green screen and then added a video of ocean waves.

I've just uploaded a video of how it was made (layer by layer), for anyone that wants to check it out

Nice tutorial!  Now, see, this is where someone with compositing experience could be helpful in stop motion. Because of the low frame rate, I couldn't even tell that was a video of real water. It just looks really cool. What about the room on fire? Is that a painting with a fire element over it?

Hahaha no the room is also an image (I think I ran a filter over it). I wish I got a better one though because its a square room in a circular lighthouse:/ . And the fire was filmed with a black cloth behind it, which was then was keyed out.

That's effective! And I like how when the camera moves, the room moves along with it. Do you have a blog where you've posted about how you made the puppets? This is all very interesting stuff.

Thanks:) At the moment I don't have a blog, but I'll definitely look into it. I'll be sure to put up some process pictures of how the character rigs were made + extra sets and characters that didn't make it in.
