Barbie's Fifty Shades of Pink - a Parody of Fifty Shades of Grey

If Barbie starred in Fifty Shades of Grey, she would be the one in charge. Stay tuned for her continued misadventures! Music and audio: 'Kooky in Love' perfo...

First things first: I can not believe that S&M has gone mainstream because of...of all things...a book. I mean, the Kama Sutra never made mainstream people want to go out and experience each other 50 different ways. At least, not on the mass scale of suggestion that "50 Shades" seems to have provoked.  It's also interesting that this film was made using a mainstream product (a toy), as toys are used in S&M and are considered "taboo" by many people. So, if nothing else, your parody calls attention to the hypocrisy of mainstream society's desire to have its cake and f*** it, too. After all, one can't pronounce "I think sex toys are evil" in the same breath as "ooh, whips and chains!1" without arguing with themselves about what is acceptable and what is not in the bedroom.

The animation reminds me somewhat of a Barbie porn a pretty well known animator produced once. I especially liked the idea of the role switching-  the girl says all the guy's lines. That really changes the dynamic of the original trailer for "50 Shades". The content suggests both a maturation in your directing style as well as a departure from caring about pleasing mainstream animation audiences.

I guess what I am trying to say is, "welcome to the darker side! Drinks and refreshments are available in the attic.  Mwahahahahahaha! (thunder and lightning)"

It's great to be back animating and I thank you for your comment.

I wouldn't say that I no longer care about pleasing my mainstream audience... especially since I recreated one of the most anticipated movies. I will say that, after taking nearly a year off, I wanted to really push myself in something bigger/ longer than I was used to and didn't want to do all sunshine and rainbows, but, with a following that even I don't fully understand, I knew it had to be another Barbie animation.

... which I immediately did follow up with a relatively happy, sunshine, and rainbows awareness video.

Once I figured out what I was going to do, the gender swap seemed an obvious twist and made it far more fun than a straight recreation... not to mention the social commentary that could easily be said about it.

No welcome to the dark side needed as I've been living in the basement for years. I just supress the twisted and macabre side every so often or as needed.
