Krampusnacht Freeky Film Festival

Hey all! After years of attending/screening at/jurying for film festivals, I'm taking a crack at running my own, consolidating the best aspects of my favorite festivals into one event. So I'm delighted to announce the inaugural Krampusnacht Freeky Film Festival! We're looking for short films (15 minutes and under), in the realm of creepy, weird, and/or darkly funny. A wholly unfamiliar genre to the stopmo community, I'm sure ;)…See More

Thomas Nicol replied to Darren Nemeth's discussion LED bulbs suitable for stop motion?
"I haven't used those sorts of bulbs specifically, but I would guess that flicker would be less of a problem than color quality -- they don't usually come with CRI ratings, but odds are good you're going to end up with something under…"

Thomas Nicol replied to Mikey Pounds's discussion Is there a common scale people usually work with?
"That house looks fantastic, Nick! Is that for the short with Poe and Lovecraft? And just throwing in my 2 cents on scale -- I also typically aim for 1:6, partially because it's a nice balance between small enough to build stuff feasibly, and big…"

I'm working on learning to make silicone puppets, and had a reasonably successful experiment embedding armature wire inside the face to allow for posable expression -- got some pics of the process here.

Subsequent trials will have the wire embedded closer to the skin's surface (the "lower lid" wires especially are difficult to reach), and have more of the wire hugging the surface contour…

That sounds like rocket science to me lol.

Yeah me too I don't feel I got the courage to do it yet either.

I still don't understand the difference between latex, silicone, foam latex, all these different matterials.  sounds confusing.

Thanks for taking the time and effort to explain all that.  I will check out - Smooth-on's - stuff.  I'm assuming that's a person on this site with that name right.  and I will try do some research if I can and find out more.  I get very overwhelmed quite easily lol with all this technical info, but I will try and work it through.
