Any ideas for a practical spinning propeller effect?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Geoff Anderson Feb 7, 2013. 18 Replies

I am planning a short homage to Kong 1933 for its 80th birthday. I want the propellers on the biplanes to spin. Does anyone know of a practical way to do this? My first idea was to remove the…Continue

This is a video I made several years ago on ball and socket armature construction. Material is a bit dated, yet good for beginners who may only have access to hand tools and lamp parts.

"I had a ball and socket armature that I made several years ago. It was made with throttle ball joints from a Auto supply store (video on how I made that forthcoming). The armature was first used for a build-up space monster puppet. I simply changed…"

"Great job! Did you use a single camera and a slider? It looks great with very minimal ghosting, something I struggle with on my stop motion anaglyphs. Keep up the good work!"

3D Dinosaurs

Ever since seeing 3D dinosaurs in my viewmaster, I have imagined them moving. As a amateur on a shoestring  budget, I turned to the old anaglyph method in the hopes of a successful 3D experiment with stop-motion. Click on the links below to view my latest attempt. Due to the camera set up, I could not use a frame grabber, so I had to shoot old school, relying on memory. I could not believe how freeing this was. It forced me to focus because I knew I could not check my progress every frame.…See More

Hi Wallace, no PARAGON'S PARAGON isn't my film -though you may have learned about it in an old Cimagic Magazine which may have also featured my work. PP was a popular fan produced film that they used to show at Balticon Film Convention in the 70's. Thanks for checking out my page!

I purchased some (fiberglass resin) from wallmart in the auto body repair section. After first sculpting the skull in clay, I made a 2 part silicone mould. I then mixed a small batch of fiberglass resin, hardner, and a "dash" of white acrylic paint, not to much. The outcome is somthing like in the picture. except the skull in the pic has no color added, its the translusent brown color of fiberglass resin.

Also, Ive tryed using gauzz for the build up method, but its to stiff for me. I recommend pre wrap from the "athletic" section in wallmart. Its just thin foam, used post urithane foam muscle stage.
