"Did some googling -  http://fileinfo.com/extension/3dm It is a Rhino 3d model, can be opened by McNeil Rhino and Autodesk Fusion on Windows, McNeil Rhino OSX and IMSI TurboCAD Deluxe V8 on a Mac.  Looks like a CAD format... possibly for 3d…"

"Ok, found it as an export option for objects in Lightwave 3d, so I guess it is a 3d object.  But I was unable to import this file, got a file error message.  Might be a more recent version than my copy of Lightwave.  Or maybe it can…"

"What is a 3dm file?  I downloaded it to my Mac, extracted the zipped file with The Unarchiver, but got message that I had no software able to open the file.  Is it some kind of 3d object for use in a 3d program?  "
