"Thanks Nick! You are right. The beaver will be like a human walking with 2 legs. I just don't have any experience to make an animal, even it looks like a human.  Now I have enough confidence to keep working on it with your guys…"

"I just looked at your photos.  Looks like your beaver walks on 2 legs.  So it is not very different from doing a human, or a 2 legged dinosaur.  I don't see a problem with making a mould of it.  "

"Then it might be better to cast the legs separately. Will there be some hair to help disguise the join/wrinkles?"

"What I worried about is when casting with foam latex, the legs cannot be bent at the joint of boy position or has a lot of wrinkles there. You know beaver normally poses like sitting on the ground. "

"Not sure what your problem is. The arms and legs are splayed out, so you can make a two part plaster mould in a straightforward way. "

Beaver sculpture need suggestions.

Hi,I am making a beaver puppet for my online kids show demo. The character will combine real beaver with cartoon style. It is my first time trying to make an animal. The beaver's legs are big troubles for me at this time. How to sculpture them so it could be easier to plan the plaster mold for foam latex puppet? I guess it could be the same design as a dinosaur, just with fat and short legs, but still could not get the idea. Can anybody give me some suggestion or share some of some works'…See More

"What you need is a fume mask, which filters out the nasties. But you can go a long way to making life better for yourself by opening a window and positioning a fan so it blows the fumes away from you."

Respirator for working with foam latex

Hi, I am going to use MonsterMaker's foam latex to cast characters this time. I used GM's before. The quality is good but the smell of ammonium (or some other chemicals) made my throat painfull each time. I think MM's has the smiliar smell when working and baking on it. I think a respirator may work. I checked in hardware store and found they all for welding or painting purpose. Can somebody make a suggestion of a respirator? Thank you!See More
