"You should probably get that checked out. You could be allergic. The first time I used MM's I took a nice deep whiff and almost died, but it cleared my congestion!"

Respirator for working with foam latex

Hi, I am going to use MonsterMaker's foam latex to cast characters this time. I used GM's before. The quality is good but the smell of ammonium (or some other chemicals) made my throat painfull each time. I think MM's has the smiliar smell when working and baking on it. I think a respirator may work. I checked in hardware store and found they all for welding or painting purpose. Can somebody make a suggestion of a respirator? Thank you!See More

"Hi Nick, I am working on this character. His mouth is like the one you made, but I am going to cast the head with foam latex. Do you think I can animate the mouth with exactly the head armature like yours?  --Thanks!"

"I use the way Anthony wrote in the tutorial:  http://www.stopmotionanimation.com/page/building-a-wire-armature-with-tie-downs You are right. It is easy to break. I think it is better to go with B & S one as the process to make a foam latex…"

"I saw one of these a few months ago. They are certainly very good value. The joints felt a bit rough and would need some serious attention to get them working smoothly. The plates are made from mild steel. Having said that, the puppets made on the…"

"Sealing cushion foam can be done using builder's silicone, which is thick and doesn't soak in. But you would need as Nick says to make sure there isn't even a tiny gap for the liquid stuff to soak through. I have only done some…"

"I bulked the armature with cushion foam, like I usually do, but the silicone soaked in.  It ended up just as heavy as solid silicone, but even stiffer, because the foam in the silicone reinforced it and made it less stretchy.  For my…"
