"My approach with things that are small, fragile, and important, like your USB cable that links your primary camera to Dragonframe on a laptop: Have two of them at the beginning of every production. "One is none, two is one," as the saying…"

"If you have another cable it's worth trying that. I think you might also need to check the connections dialogs in DF in case something got shut down accidentally. These glitches are a real frustration, you have my sympathy!"

"The USB's definitely in place, I've taken it out and back in again a few times in case that was the problem but it's firmly in."

"Check your connections. I had something like this recently and it was down to a USB connection that was just slightly out of square. Use electrical tape or rubber bands to hold them in place."

DSLR Not Recognised in DragonFrame

Hi all,I've been using a Nikon D5100 with DragonFrame for a couple of years now. I loaded up the program this evening to animate and the camera was not detected. It was working fine yesterday and now all of a sudden it just will not be recognised. It's connected up via a USB to AV cable that came with the camera. The camera itself still works fine when not connected, and when it is connected the LCD screen doesn't turn on, indicating that it's connected as per usual. I've gone through the usual…See More

"Yes, with a Canon body and an older manual Nikon lens (and adapter) you get a fully manual lens that stays set at the aperture and focus you set it at, without the camera processor being able to adjust it every time you go in front of the camera to…"

"I prefer Canon cameras for stop motion for a variety of reasons. If you have been using a Nikon for 2 years, you will have some nice surprises if you get a Canon. We have some Rebel T3i units at our lab, never found any reasons to upgrade to a T5i,…"

DSLR For Stop Motion?

Hi all,I've been using the Nikon D5100 for stop motion for the last couple of years and I really like it. However, it was never really mine, so I'm now looking to get a DSLR of my own. Everywhere I've looked as suggested that Canon DSLRs are the better route to go, so I'm eyeing up the 70D at the moment. I'm wondering if I could get a second opinion from any of you guys - what's good and what should I avoid? It took me a few months to get to grips with the D5100 and adjust the settings…See More
