Simon Tytherleigh replied to DimensionalAnimator's discussion Problem with latex
"Do not use the liquid latex that comes as part of a kit for making foam latex. That is because it is not vulcanised, and will not set like the stuff that is sold as 'liquid latex'. This is also called pre-vulcanised latex, and is used like…"

"First, the mould should be plaster, so it can absorb some of the moisture from the latex.  That makes the latex touching the plaster set thicker and less runny. Don't fill the mould and expect the whole lot to dry to form a solid object.…"

"I couldn't really understand your sketch, but here's some thoughts on making a crane. I am assuming you mean something that can move the camera vertically. Ideally you need a ballscrew or leadscrew. Then to turn it you might use a belt…"

StopmoNick replied to DimensionalAnimator's discussion Please help me with head materials
"I use epoxy putty if I want hard heads.  You don't bake it in an oven.  You mix two parts together, then it hardens.  There is one in the hardware store that sets very quickly, like 5 minutes, that is ok for simple shapes.…"

StopmoNick replied to DimensionalAnimator's discussion About animating clothes at wind / falling / running tec
"Clothes in Wind:  I like to have some wire in the edges of the clothing to make it flap in the wind.  But not a complete web of wire everywhere, or it will bend every time you grab it, even if there is no wind in that scene.   I tried…"
