Is it possible to plan out a walk cycle on Dragonframe using the drawing tools? I watched their tutorial on drawing and was wondering if anyone had used this for animating walks. I am also reading…Continue

"I don't draw the outline of the character, just a dot at the tip of the nose or top of the head is usually enough. You could also mark the moving foot. But I should go check out this line-up tool, I've never actually used it in DF."

"You can import that image as a Line Up Layer in Dragonframe. You don't have to outline anything! It's very simple. There is a tutorial on the Dragonframe website."

"Ah I see what you mean Nick. I've been reading a lot from this book (which does say that it applies to stop motion too), especially on the walking section. I suppose it would mean having the outline of the character drawn out on the preview…"

StopmoNick replied to Angus Lamont's discussion Planning walk cycles in Dragonframe?
"Normally I move the puppet, then mark where I moved it to, to check for evenness.  I used to mark the head position with a water-based pen on the monitor screen, so I could see that undulating wave shape appear as I worked through the shot.…"

Planning walk cycles in Dragonframe?

Is it possible to plan out a walk cycle on Dragonframe using the drawing tools? I watched their tutorial on drawing and was wondering if anyone had used this for animating walks. I am also reading Richard Williams "The Animator's Survival Kit" (highly recommended), and wondered if the steps he uses to do walk cycles could be transferred to Dragonframe? Hopefully what I am talking about all makes sense. I am just thinking of ways in which I can improve my walking and timing properly.…See More

"Thanks guys. R oos, hi, I have used aluminium for hands and they have worked well I was just wondering if copper is a good substitute. Nick, I intend to try and cast these hands in silicone. I used your hand build up method and the results were…"

StopmoNick replied to Angus Lamont's discussion Copper wire fingers?
"How will you be making your hands?  Cast in silicone?  That would be fine.    I usually build up my hands by painting layers of liquid latex over the aluminium wire, and copper or brass will degrade the latex, so not so good.…"

Roos Mattaar replied to Angus Lamont's discussion Copper wire fingers?
"Looks like you could just have gotten some copper wire and make some hand armatures like that yourself. :)Copper is sometimes used because it lasts longer than aluminium wire, it's still bendable but a bit tougher. That wire looks a bit thick…"

Has anyone cast from polyamide 3d prints?

Started by Joshua Liebling in CASTING. Last reply by Joshua Liebling on Thursday. 2 Replies

Polyamide plastic will apparently break down with water exposure, so this rules out gypsum molds. I'm curious if anyone here knows whether two-part silicone putty or other material would work with polyamide? I know this can be done with PLA. My end…Continue
