So I just tried to order the Live View correction cap from Dragonframe for my Canon body but apparently they are out of stock until sometime in February. Is there anyone here that has one they could…Continue

Becoming A Hero

Hi Everyone!I am working on an independent feature film titled, Becoming A Hero. I am asking if everyone might stop by the site, sign up for the email list or "like" or "share" it on Facebook. That would be totally awesome. Every little bit helps to spread the word.We plan on doing some fundraising in association with several children's cancer research charities and I hope to raise several million for them. And it all starts with someone just like you stopping by and signing up for the email…See More

"You would think so, but I'm using a Canon EOS t6i and I guess Dragonframe only sends messages to the camera to take pictures, so I set the resolution in Dragonframe when I connect the camera and it still takes pictures rather than video."

"Wouldn't putting the camera in video mode mean that you are capturing HD video instead of very high res RAW still images for your actual film frames?    "

"That's good info Nick. I'll have to try that too."

"Hey, a bit late to the party, but the work around I'm going with is that I find using Video Mode on my camera seems to get the exposure in the live preview to look correct. Alternatively there are camera adapters with confirmation chips, you…"

"That's kind of a total DUH moment for me. It is close enough to make it work. I like the idea of seeing it exactly, but that is close enough to make certain it's good animating. Thanks a TON!"

StopmoNick replied to Andrew's discussion Anyone have a Live View correction cap?
"Ok, here's Dragonframe with the live view at default setting of 0, and adjusted to +3.  First image shows the actual test shot, with a small piece of the default exposure offset overlaid on the left. Second image shows the live view…"

StopmoNick replied to Andrew's discussion Anyone have a Live View correction cap?
"I adjust the brightness in Dragonframe.  Just a minute while I go and get a camera to attach - my frame grabbing computer is in the house instead of the studio at the moment - and I can do a couple of screen grabs."

Andrew replied to Andrew's discussion Anyone have a Live View correction cap?
"Unfortunately, the electric lens adjusting didn't work. It changed it slightly, but not enough to make a big enough difference.  Looking back to what you posted, Nick... are you adjusting the gain on your monitor or inside the software?…"

John Lewis replied to Andrew's discussion Anyone have a Live View correction cap?
"If you start Dragon using an electronic lens and set the apature - and then disconnect the lens and pop on your manual lens - the live views brightness will be different depending on what the last electronic apature was. I think the camera rembers…"

"That's what I've been doing, but I am shooting in some really low light and get a little scared I will shoot a few dozen frames only to see that it doesn't look good. Fingers crossed! Thanks for looking into it."

StopmoNick replied to Andrew's discussion Anyone have a Live View correction cap?
"Ok, I see what it is.  I just take a test shot (in the Cinematography window) to view the actual hi res image and get the exposure right, then adjust the slider for live view compensation - usually to +3 or +4 - to get the live view bright…"
