Replacement Face - Material Comparison

I thought people might be interested to see my study into the comparison of the materials that can be used in replacement face animation.

I think the difference between them all is amazing!

Very helpful!  Are those all made from the same 3d object files, on the same printer, the only difference being the material?   Looks like, of the 3, the high res plastic is the only one worth considering.

Hi Nick! Yes they're all made from the same file, different printers though. The powder one was printed on a ZPrinter 450 (I think it's one model earlier than the machine LAIKA use, ZPrinter 650), the central plastic one is printed on a Dimension Elite. And the right high resolution plastic is printed on a Objet Polyjet printer.
I agree that the high res one looks so much better than the others, but it also cost me a lot more to get printed!

I had to build a simple RP machine from a kit for a school that I work at, its not that refined and the finished model would require sanding before final paint job, but it only cost about £800 pounds which is cheap in RP terms.

Woa that is cheap! Presuming that cap was printed on it, the results look pretty decent too!

yes it is cheap! but does leave little lines on each layer that need to be sanded out.....you can see these lines if you click on the picture to zoom-in.

I did find another kit a while back that is similar and was about £600.
