Miniature set up for sci-fi film.
Not using the Bolex now tho'.
These are Revell or Aurora-can't remember which...but I modified-the white top on the 57 Chevy-'cause I thought I could get a match for the close-ups of the real actors...And the cop car is a 57 Ford Fairlane model that I did a custom cop paint job on and sent away for decals-and the siren & roof lights are custom too.
Yeah, I'm doing all that stuff over again (for the 3rd time), first time didn't come out, second time I shot "LIVE" on video but that's just 720...and I need to re-shoot in stop motion through my Black Magic card so it'll be HD-which will match the live action stuff being done on a pro HD video camera. Gonna have to time out the red flashing lights. How many frames do you think I should shoot between red light flashes? Anyone? Thanks!
Yep, way too much! The biggie for me was not knowing if the footage was good for months-because I wouldn't take it out of the camera until I used the entire roll up.Too expensive not to get your full reel filled up. And when you are doing animation it can take forever to get your footage done...so wait, wonder, wait, wonder, wait, wonder....THEN FINALLY you get it processed-oops film gate not locked down -out of focus fluttery...AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
That's what happened to me the last time I used the Bolex.
So what is this film about? Are these miniature model actors stand in's for the real live action actors in the film?
Hi Angus, this is a 1950's sci-fi film. Live action plus stop motion animation-monster, robot, flying saucer stuff going on...old school everything.
We are about 1/3 done on live action for this feature length film.
The photo Busted is just a test shot...no longer using Bolex.
Oh...yes the mini people stand in for live actors in several spots in the film.
Nice! Can't wait to see the finished film! Will you put it up online?
As a last resort. Hopefully we'll get distribution or DVD deal...
Well I wish you good luck! Any photos of the monster?
here's a hint -my pictures site...here.
