Trying to launch my stop-motion career...nothing but roadblocks.

Hello all. Just thought I'd share my experiences with you. So, a wonderful and gracious person funded my Kickstarter campaign to buy a canon t5 camera so I could start on my journey. I've got all the necessary other equipment..lights, set, armatures, Legos, etc. So I order the camera from Amazon...it comes damaged. So I send that back. Camera 2 comes in with even more unsightly damage than the first one. So, I head to EBay. Order a t5 canon which is supposed to be brand-new..comes in obviously used and not even a t5..a t3. So I send camera 3 back and now waiting. Some great luck, huh? Wish me luck on camera 4.

Wow, that's way too many bad deals in a row!  Hope with the next one  you get what you paid for.

Oh man, you've been through it. Good luck, i hope camera 4 is the lucky one!

I would ask if they could bubble-wrap the outside of the box. Had a few brushes with bad luck on the camera front, but nothing like THAT!

I'm wondering if the TC is perhaps a young person.
These "problems" you have are very solvable problems, so it's hard to see why one would express about them here.

Why did you create a kickstarter campain so that you could fund a camera instead of getting a job? t5 cost 400€, thats four days work, eight if you work part-time after school.

The uphills you are having are small, move forward.

Do your research carefully. On eBay, follow several cameras of the type you want, and see what they sell for. Check shutter count - it should be low.

My strategy for bidding is simply to put in the maximum that I would pay, then go away, and if I don't win the auction, there will be another one along soon. I bought an immaculate Canon 7d with 7000 on the shutter count for £400 a few weeks ago. A damaged camera with much higher count sold previously for £30 more!

that's a very interesting post, Blackshore. Let me see if I can explain MY post a little bit better so maybe you will understand what happened. First of all, I'm 45 years old, and not a 'young person'. I served 3 tours in 2 different combat zones, one in Afghanistan, and the second in Iraq, mmmkay? Ok. So what my post is/was simply this: I ordered a camera and have been sent damaged and/or wrong cameras. Have you ever ordered something from any store, or a restaurant, and been given the wrong order/product? If not, I congratulate your incredibly lucky life. Second of all, yes, I have a 'job'. Besides being a retired US Army soldier, I also counsel and help relocate displaced veterans. Mmmkay? So, I would suggest you better read future posts, then I would recommend putting your brain in gear before engaging your mouth. Good day.

uh...yeah. I know which camera I want. I ordered it. It came back broken or wrong. I Can't control what somebody sends in eBay. I don't work at Amazon. I can't control the quality of the cameras. I can just order what I want, then hope it comes back correct and undamagee. Your reply is even more confusing, but less insulting, the the other one. I would suggest you read future posts more carefully before you reply. Thank you.

Thank you. I read your post carefully. Items for sale on eBay should be properly described, but one has to be vigilant. You have clearly had a run of bad luck, but please don't take it out on people posting here, who are simply trying to offer helpful advice.

Good luck with camera 4.

Aha, you are in a far worse condition than a young person. US war vet. Heard about horrible salaries during war, I bet that economically it has gone allot worse since you became a vet.
Sorry about that. That did clear things up. Glad you survived!

Here in Sweden we use something called prisjakt.se , similar to pricerunner.com that lists products and the retailers available to provide. These listed retailers for a specific product normally have comments/judgments from consumers and that is often a very transparent way of seeing how the retailer is.
In Sweden we are a bit spoiled when it comes to consumer rights. We get one year warranty and three years reclamation right for a product that is not a consumable (batteries, cakes etc) product by law.

And sorry again.
