Hello, I finally decided to post a message on the forum. It's complicated for me because I am French and I speak very little English. That is why I have never taken part in the forum even though I know the site since 2000. But now it's different. Google translation is improved and I have the will to learn this technique. For that, I'm going to need your advice and to understand quickly. My question: Does anyone know a way or free software to translate the site? I tried Google translation and the result is not good.

An interesting question, I sometimes need to understand other languages.  When I got the book Stop Motion, L'Animation Image par Image de Giles Penso, I used a printed English-French dictionary, and also had to ask my partner for help because she understands more French than I do.  I should see what the translation software can do now.

I looked to see what other translation sites I could find.  I tested http://Systranet.com/translate by typing these words in English:  I don't know any free online translation services.

This is what they said, en francais:  Je n'en connais pas des services de traduction en ligne gratuits.

I don't know if that is good French or not, I can understand each word but maybe that is not the way you would say it.

Then I translated that back to English and got this:  I do not know of them translation services online free.

It is not quite correct English - we would not say "them" there, but I can understand it.  I think that is as good as you can expect from translation software.

I will try the same sentence with Google Translate.  This was their French version:  Je ne sais pas de services de traduction en ligne gratuits.   I think connais was a better word than sais for this?

Here is another one,  Babylon ( http://translation.baylon.com ):  Je don't savoir tout services de traduction gratuits en ligne.  It did not understand don't  so it just kept that word the same.   The infinitive savoir does not look right to me either, and I am not sure if you would say tout for any.  I will try it with do not instead of don't.  That helped:  Je ne sais pas tout services de traduction gratuits en ligne.   But I don't think this site is very good, people writing in English here will not use words that are easier for the translator.

Another site, http://imtranslator.net/translation/english/to-french/translation/ :  Je ne sais pas de services de traduction en ligne libres.  It understood don't, but I think gratuits is a better meaning for free in this sentence, not libres?

Your English in your post is good, so I think you can ask questions and we will understand.  I think the difficult part for you might be when we answer with technical animation terms, or in slang that is not standard English.   The translation software may not be so good for that.  You can try.

Welcome to the message board!

You're right, and then, look at the bright side of things, In addition to learning the stop motion, I improved my English. At 43 years, it is not too late. It is also never too late. Thank you.
