I'm currently designing a harlequin puppet based off old 1920's Bauhaus costumes.
I really want the feet to be pointed, so that the puppet will be walking on it's toes but am struggling with tie downs!
Any advice would be much appreciated :-)
I did supply this information once, but it seems to have been destroyed for some reason. As I said, I am by no means an expert on this, but if I was trying to deal with this problem I'd use rigs to hold the figures, then erase them in postproduction.
John has good advice as I see lots of rigs used in films But all you need to do is have a threaded hole in the armature for a tie down. How big is the puppet?
If the toes are REALLY pointed (i.e., Oskar Schlemmer style figures), I don't think there'd be any room for tie-downs...
If there really is no way to put tie downs in the feet, you could consider rigging the puppet from behind or off to the side like the example above.
