I recently dusted off my old DVDs of both of these movies, as well as the sequel to The Gate, and they still have the magic I remembered from years back. At some point I decided to see if there was any production info available, because I was interested in how these little gems were made and got to the screen with so much heart and authenticity intact - a rare thing. Lo and behold, I discovered both on Blu-Ray, complete with loads of behind the scenes featurettes and commentary tracks, featuring special effects supervisor Randall William Cook and director Tibor Takacs, as well as the writer of The Gate Michael Nankin.
