"Den of Geek" have a list of there "25 great stop-motion moments in live-action films",http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/23707/25-great-stop-motion-moments-...  right down at the bottom is an impressive "Starship Troopers" bug test footage piece.  I'm not sure if it is actually stopmotion, I hope it is.

This looks like CG to me.

They used Bug Input Devices to transfer frame by frame or live performances to the digital bug models for many performances in Starship Troopers.

I'm guessing that was the technique that was used for the clip.

yeah, looked like cg to me too.

I think if it were stop motion, Phil would have labeled it as such.
