Somehow, despite checking our work as we went along in Dragonframe, we've got a project with flicker issues.
Now that we're in post, can anyone recommend a good plugin for After Effects that can help? Or is there even a non-plugin fix I should know about?
I did a lot of research and tried a few things. My favorite so far is the Color Stabilizer effect native to AE. Some talk about it here:
And the instructions for it here:
I also keep having flicker, even after a lens change. I think for me it's the voltage, that changes the strength of the light.
But! I tried a lot of plug-ins, and the one that works really well is GB deflicker.
I use these settings: check 'Zoom vertical scale', deflicker method: 'smoothing', correction method: 'Gamma', number of smoothing frames: 15, adjust for clipping: 99%.
You can change the two last options to what works best with your scene.
And if you want, can choose two points as a reference, where the brightness should stay the same through the shot (a spot where there is no movement or moving shadows).
It's $99 dollar for the plug-in.
