It's regular liquid latex that's used. Foam latex is a much harder beast to wrangle and most importantly foam latex can't be slip cast (the process that is used to make the shoes and can be used for a number of other things as well) because it, as the name implies, foams as it cures, filling in most if not all of the volume of the mold.
