Been a while since last post, seems like I get less and less time to browse the stop-mo site!! I'm not an advocate of using this forum to promote my gear but I developed something really cool a while ago that's caused a few ripples in the armature construction world............
I call them "Ball Stems", fabricated from a single piece of 304L stainless steel in two sizes ( 6mm ball with 70mm M3 threaded stem and 5mm ball with 70mm M2 threaded stem).
Saved me a ton of time soldering and a few less burns!!!! Just thought I'd share with you guys who understand the pain of silver soldering!!!
All the best
i'll be in touch Julian, I have a gig for the Unicorn Theatre coming up imminently, and need to build a variety of armatures. I'll mail you tonight.
My order arrived today, very prompt delivery, and the items perfectly conform to the description, quality is excellent...it is hard to see me buying another threaded ball ever again!
Help! I really need some of these for a job I'm about to start on but for some strange reason I don't seem to be able to create an account at the Stop Motion Shop. I need 10 of the 6mm ball/rods in a hurry!
Problem solved... Julian just wrote back to me and let me know that your account is created through the ordering process. So if anyone else has this problem don't worry, just place your order and your information will automatically be saved and that's what creates your account. :)
Those look fantastic. Please let me know when 6mm ones are available. Do you plan to make these in smaller sizes as well? 3mm? I don't have a website yet but have some of my characters are on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/pages/TEDCO-Studios/1401147393432601 The cyclops (Norm) and the cyclops creature (Harry) are both going to be also built in a smaller scale roughly the size requiring 3mm ball joints and rod. Is that something that you may offer at some point?
It's a time-saver to boot! Bet they're really expensive though!
They are really good, and if you value your own time not spent soldering etc. they are not expensive.
I bought one of these kits a few months ago for a project. Really liked the ease of putting it together, this was my first armature. I used Loctite Red 271 on the threaded ball ends, held with no problems.
