Hey StopMotionAnimation.com,

My name is Matthew Wierenga and for the past 19 months I have worked as a stop motion animator creating unique handmade games and content at Fat Pebble (Brighton, UK). I was the lead animator on several projects and have gained valuable experience working to tight deadlines as part of a team. My role also involved concepts, storyboarding, model making, editing and post production. I am keen to further my career as a stop-motion animator and model maker but also expand into other areas.

I'm looking for work around the Brighton/London area but would be happy to move around a bit more for the right opportunity

Nice reel man! Best of luck.

Do you have a space to work from? Every now and then I need stuff done but I don't necessarily need you here. The same goes for many other directors managing small productions. It may be  animating Vs green screen, AE stuff, or puppet making stuff for instance. If you can provide services that are not geographically bound your chances of picking up work will increase. If on the other hand you are into the traditional studio scene (which is geographically bound) perhaps moving to Bristol/Cardiff, both cities with a long standing tradition of stop-frame manufacture may help. The jobs get dished around the "locals" first as you may imagine.

Also, please subtitle your role on the clips in your show-reel otherways people can't tell what you are selling. Is it your animation skills? your puppet making skills, AfterEffects, camera work, VFX skills? I was left not quite knowing what i could offer you that could suit your particular strengths.

Cheers!

I've got a big garage at my current place so am planning to kit it out into a mini studio at some point but don't have a space ready to go yet. Yeah I know about Bristol/Cardiff & Manchester and will probably end up in one of the cities soon, just tied into a housing contract at the moment so need to look for more local work at the moment.

The showreel is my 'animation showreel' so its main focus is selling my animating skills but I performed most of the camera work, AE work, and model making work in almost all of the shots so felt it would only clutter the showreel with too much text. I guess I could explain in the description underneath.
