Finally got the nerve to actually animate something, Don't know what hes doing exactly but I just went with the flow lol. Got this new toy in the mail and I knew I just had to animate it. Man I had alot of fun with it too, cant wait to try some other stuff. Still need to study on making the animation smoother, got alot to learn still lol. Let me know what you guys think.
This was shot on a cheap Kodak point and shoot Digital camera, and used Monkey Jam to animate it. Did 2 versions one in 60fps and another in 30fps, all shot in 2's.
Thanks for the reply! Supposedly both versions should be in twos unless monkey jam created more frames for the 30fps one. lol dont know I installed the programed and just trudged ahead really with out reading anything about it lol. Yeah unfortunately the toy really isnt that good for this kind of thing, hes really top heavy and his joints have a tendency of slipping really easily, so doing really tiny increments was really hard to do using his whole body. I still want to try using him again but this time tie him down that might help. Thanks for the advice! Its gonna be a fun journey!
I think Patrick Boivin, who animates with action figures that were not really made for stop motion, uses a support rig to help hold them up pretty well all the time. His figures are jumping in the air half the time, so they would need a rig for that anyway. I don't know if that would help a lot with this.
Oh yeah I forgot about him, his stuff is awesome. Yeah Iam planning on trying out a rig. The figure actually comes with a little display stand so I should be able to try it out with that if not I can always whip something up. Thanks again for the advice!
