Some of you may be familiar with that Ray Harryhausen documentary of many years ago. I just got notification of this and I suppose, SMW might consider posting in the news. With this Kickstarter campaign, they want to do an extended version of that documentary. Below link gives details. The project is noble, great, fantastic, etc and not saying anything negative.
My minor LIO Micro-rant™ would be and I won't mention names - We Stop Motionists are not exactly rich with cash, but I guess any little donations adds up, however -- Where are those in the mainstream film biz that have some clout & wealth, who always praise Ray Harryhausen as an inspiration to a cornucopia of directors, producers, filmmakers, effects artists, etc. They or just one person could so EASILY contribute with one check.
That's all I got to say
Well, last week the documentary film ' Ray Harryhausen- special effects Titan' premiered in London- with Ray and a stellar gathering of stop motion faces in attendance- this film covers his life, times, work, and the admiration of all the modern effects directors you would presume- no Lucas, though...but everyone else-
Ray was there, and the film has the support of the Ray and Diana Harryhausen Foundation, and so was (to my eyes) Peter Lord, Dave Sproxton, Nick Park, Barry Purves, John Landis, and very many others...
So it looks slightly to me like this may be treading ground already covered
ps the film contains hitherto unseen footage including tests and material recovered from 'that' garage...
And Ray was a joy to behold and listen to, despite him insisting he had nothing to say!
pps- one thing that came across clearly at the event is the extent to which Peter Jackson has 'coughed up' for restoration and archival work, out of justified love and respect to the man himself.
