Maybe one of you can help me out here.
I'm prepping for a stop motion workshop. I'm being provided with 5 brand new Macs with iStopmotion.
I'm looking for advice on iStopmotion -
Have you worked with it before?
Which camera did you use?
Did you manage to get live view?
Which works better: USB or FireWire?
It's a workshop with young teens, so no amazing stills camera required. I'm on a tight budget, roughly €400 for 5 cameras. I want something very simple with live view.
Any feedback would be very appreciated!
Hi Caroline! Any digital video camera will work fine with iStopMotion and gives you live view! you need to connect it with FireWire 400 or 800 on your Mac (depends on the age of your computer) iStopMotion is pretty simple and easy to work with. Kids will understand this software immediately! you can check out FAQ here: http://boinx.com/knowledge/istopmotion Hope i could help! Mirko
Hi Mirko, thanks for your reply!
I may have access to one or two DV cameras, so will definitely use those.
I still need to get hold of at least 4 more cameras. I'm currently considering using iPhones with the iStopmotion App.
If you or anyone else has used iStopmotion in connection with something other than a DV camera, please let me know!
You could use a webcam like this hue http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hue-webcam-camera-built--Windows/dp/B001KPA... I've not used it with istopmotion though (I have used it with other similar programmes though)
This one also looks good, but I think its just for windows http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kinobo-Webcam-Megapixels-Windows-lights/dp/...
Hi Steve, thank for your message!
I own a Hue Webcam; it's very good for how cheap it is. I'd like my students to get higher quality pictures if possible.
The other one looks good, shame it's windows only. Anybody know of a good Mac-compatible high quality webcam other than Hue?
Webcams will work also fine with iStopMotion but i recommend not the cheap ones! this is better: http://www.amazon.de/Logitech-C910-USB-HD-Webcam/dp/B003PAIVBC/ref=...
oder look for Logitech QuickCam Pro!
For the iPhone App you will need WLAN/Router to run it with iStopMotion! But the good part is, you don´t need any cable to connect the iPhone with your Mac!
Thank you Mirko,
Logitech is on my list!
Thanks for your feedback. Looks like I'll use a mix of DV Cams and HD Webcams.
Hi Caroline, I haven't used iStopmotion otherwise I'd chime in but I just wanted to pop in and say good luck with the workshop!
Thank you very much!
