online resources for the stop motion animation community since 1999
Here is a list of known issues and problems with the new site. Please add to this list if you find more.
Message Board: No emoticons. Renamed Forum to Message Board on top tab but can't figure out how to change it on right sidebar, still reads as Forum.
Uploaded movies: uploaded videos don't appear on the iPad, or in Chrome browsers. Just a black empty space.
Photos: slideshow doesn't work on iPad (Flash?) Just a black empty space instead
Facebook: integration is spotty. sometimes the post will appear on FB, sometimes when clicking on the link the following message will appear on FB:
This matter will be resolved eventually, it just might take awhile to get it working correctly. I received this response from the HELP Dept today:
Just checking if there's support for animated GIF profile pictures... If the fish flaps above, then there is.
Edit: there isn't...
I have to ask, all the years of message board postings. I hope you can transfer them here. It would be a major loss in a way. Otherwise the site looks really good. Let's test embedding videos in here...
<iframe width="475" height="267" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/laWiX-8MoB8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Well, that doesn't work. But at least you can paste the links in here.
I see the poor skeleton avatar has been replaced by Poe. This is going to take some getting used to. Skoal!
Just looking at the site on an iPad for the first time.
No flapping fish...
I haven't checked the uploaded videos or photos with iPad yet - they worked on the Mac Pro with Safari and Firefox.
Anthony, I am working on a dbms for the forum threads. Is there any way I could get a copy of the whole archive to use for test data? Once the thing is working I will let you decide if it is something you want. If it is of use, then I will donate it to the group.
I am also planning on massaging the data on the site to extract themes and group them together, making them easily put into the Handbook or any other form. If the site allows robotic indexing by search engines I can have the data automatically updated.
(I was a professional dbms programmer for the state of New Mexico for years.)

That is a possible option however the search function is poor on the old site. I know there is a way to lock down threads. I am more in favor of creating an archive here and cutting loose the old site and host.
It's true I gave you advance notice of the new site a few wdays ago. I opened the site to everyone this weekend.
I will work on getting the files to you this week. Thanks Martin. I know many people will appreciate it.
The new site is fantastic - it's Facebook for stop motion. Great work!

Hey Marc, good to see ya in here!! To embed videos you need to grab the Embed code (looks like you did that) and then click on the little "video" box (looks like a blue filmstrip with sprocket holes) and paste the
Embed code in the box that pops up.
