Hi guys. It has been a few years! I have been composing some music for a Teanola hand-cranked music box here in Salzburg. I decided to make a short and somewhat crude little video to go along with one of the songs. I purposely avoided using rotoscopy, onion skinning, motion capture, etc. - just straight animation from the gut:

As simple as the animation was, I really liked that. A bit too "Brothers Quay" for my general taste, but I liked it. My only beef was with the constant blackouts and dissolves. But then I'm kind of mental about that sort of style.

Nice job!

Ditto everything.

Thanks guys.

That's the way I do it. Gut instinct. People get pissed when they find out though. Because that takes real skills. ;) Nice one.

Wow! That is just FANTABULOUS! Very nice photography, atmosphere, angles. Once again it just goes to show that excellent animation is not about having all the goodies, 3D printers, etc., it is about the skill of the animator. I love shorts, and I love shorts without dialogue, it is the art form at its purest. . . and most difficult. Thank you for reminding us what it is all about!

Love that Justin, the simple wire armature is great reminded me a little of 'rehearsals for extinct anatomies' (I know not why), Just checked that out on youtube and came across another version where some idiot thinks he knows what music is better suited to the Quays work and has thoughtfully dubbed it with his own 'Garage band' mix.

Anyway great animation

Sort of reminds me of some Tool VideosI like that slightly disturbing environment, the lightning and details that had been put into this you've managed to transport emotions to the audience without showing facial features, that's pretty awesome

congrats to this nice work

I whish she'll get her head fully together sometime
