Hey Guys,

I've been in this business for more nearly more years than I can count and yet, I've never had a demo reel. That's because I got pegged very early in my career as being a "fabricator" (maker of special props and puppets) but never an animator.

Over the past 5 years or so, I've totally focused on dedicating myself to the goal of being a professional animator and have amassed quite a bit of animation but, most of the projects I've been working on have remained unreleased and so I cannot legally show what I've been doing publicly.

Long story short, that waiting time is finally at an end and better than that - a new beginning. I say that because I've put together a demo reel I can show publicly while knowing that within the coming year, there will be more and more of my stuff that will become available for me to show... so this reel is just the beginning and it will be evolving and expanding.

IMPORTANT!: Not all of the animation on my demo reel is mine, on many jobs I was the puppet and/or prop maker so, I listed credits at the bottom of the screen (when you watch in HD) to let the viewer know what I'm responsible for.

(drum roll please) Here it is...

HOLY CRAP! I just noticed big goof I made! There's one shot of the big purple monster and I put a credit at the bottom which reads "all elements of production" and that is UNTRUE. Nick Hilligoss animated the flying robot that's in that shot!

That shot was re-edited by Nick to have the robot in it during the making of this reel but, I had already made up the credits at a time when I thought it wasn't going to be included. I'm terribly sorry about that Nick, I'll do what I can to remedy that screw up.

AMAZING STUFF RON!!

Thanks for sharing the magic!!

Thanks Chris - I'm particularly happy with the mix because it starts out all light and fluffy with Santa and gradually changes over to a point where I don't think any viewer will expect me to take them.

hahaha indeed!!

Nice work. I have only been playing with stop motion animation and fabrication for the last few months but enough to know how much work went into those clips. They just kept coming it was awesome. My favourite was the glimpse of the pale humanoid. What a fantastic looking character and scene.

Oh and the Harryhausenesque cyclops of course.

What a fabulous reel. remind me never to bid on a puppetmaking or animation job against you! Nice to see some of those hidden jobs emerging, and i can think of others coming up. I'm sure that's just a small taste of the Sinbad shots - pretty sure there are more creatures not even glimpsed.
The robot is a pretty minor element in that Rhinotaur shot, so no big deal with the credit. Leave it, or change it to "all elements except robot" maybe?
I was wondering how to deal with the same thing when I update my reel and include other people's projects where my work is mixed up with others. It was either going to be grouping shots together in sections like Animation Only, Puppetmaking Only, Puppet and Animation, Set Construction Only, or something like you've done with the credit at the bottom of each shot, which is probably the better way.

Great reel!

Keep on Rollin'!

As always, incredible work.

Fantastic!  Congratulations, Ron!

Some great stuff Ron, hopefully we won't have to wait too long to see more.

Okay so I cut that reel in half so it only features the realistic creature effects stuff and added some new music day ago.... and BAM!!! That thing took off on Youtube like no other video I've ever made! In one single day I got over 2,100 views and I'm totally blown away by it.

Here's the new shorter reel... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiYfpvELXkE
