hi i want to do a simple claymation animation with white background and floor like this Photo bellow wondering what the most simple way to do it in terms of set design .  one question is if your armature is walking how do they hide the holes from his previous steps   where he was tied down by his feet

I usually hide the tiedown holes with a plug of plasticine, but it is generally a blotchy colour, so a perfect match is not necessary. For greenscreen, I have green fabric over the particle board which has the hole drilled, with just a slit cut in it. The slit opens to let the tiedown bolt through, then closes up. If it shows up a little I can paint it out in post. I could do with the same if the background was all pure white.
You have a clean white, but we are seeing soft shadows from the puppet, which I haven't ever done. I guess it is not a matter of just painting out any mark that shows, the mark could be in the fully lit area, or where the puppet shadow falls on it for some frames, so matching the shades of grey would be more difficult. I would still try a white fabric with slits and see if I can close them up so they don't show. Maybe white paper would do the same, with slits that can close up. The other option I can think of is a white painted board, where you fill the hole with plasticine, then paint over it with the same white paint, and wait for the paint to dry. If the puppet walks around a lot, creating new holes, that could slow the animation down a bit. Or maybe a white sticky label over the hole would work well enough. You would need to do some lighting tests.
Anthony Scott would know. But maybe he didn't use tiedowns, just support rigs that were removed in post.
A metal sheet with magnet tiedowns would work, too. It might be one case where magnets are worth the expense.
