After trying to decide what to use for fur for the puppet I'm building, I received my fur samples from National Fiber Technologies. All I can say is wow this is what I am definitly going to use.

It has a 4 way stretch backing and the color I chose is a nice mix of black, red and white fibers that look realistic. Kind of a silver back look. But its not cheap at 39 bucks a square foot. I figure I will need at least 200 bucks worth. Craft fur would work using the transfer method and rabbit pelts would work too. But I can see why Hollywood FX  studios use NFT. I think it will give the look I'm after and also make for a more durable puppet. I will post some pics soon.

Ive used NFT for years in animatronic applications, how does it look for scaled down stop-mo work? What fur are you using? :)

Make your patterns with some cheap fabric and then check your measurements, and order what you need. Of course, it does depend on the size of the puppet.

Best,

Rick

Thanks for the great tip Rick, I will definitely do that.
