Dragonframe 4, Canon 7D Mk I, Pentax SuperTak 50mm lens (100% manual). Shooting in manual mode with highest quality large JPEGs.
I am getting 1-2 stops' difference between the Live View feed and the actual captured exposures. I did the obvious thing which was to try using Exposure Simulation on and off, but it just offsets the exposures; it's like the offset is the same but in either direction (e.g., one way Live View is overexposed and the captured frames are fine - which makes onion skinning almost impossible to see - and the other way Live View looks fine and the captured frames are underexposed).
It's kind of a new behavior, too - I shot almost 1200 frames before this behavior started. No amount of camera factory resets or fresh battery changes is altering the behavior. It's possible it happened before but I seriously doubt I'd not have noticed...
Any ideas or thoughts, folks? I've lost 3 hours to this issue today... :-(

Ugh, I hate being That Guy who answers his own question. But just in case others run across this and didn't know...
Turns out the Live View mode on all Canon cameras is auto-exposure based on where the focus/zoom frame is (that little white box on the Live View screen). If it's centered, the exposure will more or less be the same as the captured image; I had mine all the way in a corner for pulling focus on an odd part of a shot...which is an old habit from live shooting days, there's no real reason to need to do that while shooting tethered with Dragonframe.
Whew...still have hours of work to recover but now I'm back on track. Sorry for the mental spasm.
Thanks for your reply, John. Exposure Simulation is the feature and it just skews the offset in a different direction. Doesn't work consistently, although it's better, but that doesn't affect the fact that the live view's exposure is always dependent on where the focus frame is, which in turn means it's always in a wonky auto exposure mode. See my previous post.
Dragonframe does seem to make this widget that seems to address this issue. I'm tempted to give it a whirl.
