HI,

i managed to almost finish the first building for the short i am working on. There are still a lot fo things to do like completing the missing windows, adding all the lights and props in the bottom shops and stuff but i could not resist to do a small render and show it off for some feedback. I also started working on the first set and laid the first cobblestones for the footpath. One image has the comp with the already known test puppet(with a sculpted head this time), the rest are shots from Blender 3d view. I managed to match most of the lighting but i still have to finish the building before starting the real work on texturing. I still have 6 or 7 buildings to make, mainly apartment blocks and i hope they will go much smoother that this one. The building is still in it's designed shape. no deformation was applied but i intend to deform the buildings to match the rest of the environment.

Any feedback or advice on composition and lighting would be greatly appreciated.

Nice set! Impressively neat work.

Only thought on lighting would be perhaps to have something like a streetlight so your puppet can be illuminated a little more than the background.

Thank you Simon,

i am still playing with set scale and virtual set scale. The lights on the real set were placed at approx 1 meter on each side of the puppet and a little from behind according to the puppet position. In virtual set size, the street lights were at approx 12 meters from the puppet position, hence the low light. i will add more lights once i make them....out of cola cans :) right now i have only 4 and one is reserved for lighting the green screen. Anyway, thank you so much for the suggestion.

cheers,

JD
