know a mechanical (non electric) way to create a crane?,i have an idea made in steel tubes and ground rail,you can see it in this picture:
I actually have a basic photographic tripod and a short rail (i can do dolly in/out,panning,till with the vertical bar of the tripod,all with a physical measure rule)
I couldn't really understand your sketch, but here's some thoughts on making a crane. I am assuming you mean something that can move the camera vertically.
Ideally you need a ballscrew or leadscrew. Then to turn it you might use a belt connected to a crank arm. The good thing about a ballscrew is that it has minimal backlash.
I have had good results using commercial camera tracks, although some of them are a bit narrow. There are some with carbon fibre tubes that are wide and might work for you.
