Firstly, sorry for the quality of the photos. I only had my phone with me.

I just had a great week at Bradford Animation Festival. Saw many excellent short films using different forms of animation. There were some fascinating, and inspiring talks from LAIKA's Mark Shapiro, Aardman's Will Becher and - my idol - Robert Morgan.

My highlight was the Rob Morgan talk, which also showed all his stop-motion films, including the latest 'Bobby Yeah', which is the only one I hadn't yet seen - and my new favourite. I managed to chase him down as he was going into the cafe, to have a little chat and get him to sign my festival program. Most have probably seen his films, so I won't link them all here, but this is his Youtube channel. (Rob is the one with hair).

Mark Shapiro talked about, and showed videos of behind-the-scenes on Coraline and ParaNorman. He brought with him one of the Norman puppets and the tall zombie puppet used in the film. These were on display in the foyer to take pictures of. A Royal Rumble ensued.

I didn't manage to get any photos of the Will Becher talk, but he brought along the Pirate Captain and gave an on-stage demonstration of replacing the mouths and adjusting the eyebrows and beard.

There was much more going on, the schedule was jam-packed. Too much to mention, and I didn't get to see everything I wanted to see. I have to say congratulations to Emma De Swaef and Marc James Roels on winning Best Professional Film for 'Oh Willy'.

I'm very much looking forward to next year.

I took my kids to the weekend workshops.  Would have liked to have gone to some screenings and talks as well, maybe next year.  I heard Robert Morgan on a podcast talking about "Booby Yeah" he sounded like an interesting and inspiring guy. "the cat with hands" is still my favourite though.
