Greetings, Im looking to improve my stop motion technique, timing, smoothness, speed etc. Is it best to use a puppet you spent a lot of time making? Or is a simple wire frame puppet better? (quick and easy to make and if it breaks you can just make another quickly)

Thanks in advance!

One more thing I want to add - this isn't technically one of the principles, but it's more like a combination of several of them into a powerful technique or theory that if you learn it will transform your work. It's called Seaweed Movement, or at least that's the best name I've ever seen for it - sometimes I think of it as spaghetti-arm movement

You can read the description @ The Animated Cartoon Factory even though their example doesn't work anymore, but I've found a similar example on youtube to look at:

If you can wrap your head around how this is really just a combination of ease-in/ease-out and overlapping action, plus maybe a bit of secondary animation thrown in, you'll develop superpowers of animation mastery. Really when I figured out how to use this one I used it for pretty much everything.

Many thanks and very kind of you to explain all the major techniques... Gonna work on each one separately before advancing to a new technique. Lots to experiment with/practice and hopefully make some good improvements...

If you ever decide to take up Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Id be happy to give you some tips..lol
