It's a great way to add convincing blur to your animation in post.
I'm trying to figure out which version to buy. I'm leaning toward the regular version for Windows, but I can't figure out if upgrading to the pro (from the regular) would be possible if I ever want more functions in the future.
Anyone know more?
I have used the RSMB-plugin in AFX on some scenes with some basic settings on a selected layer. It can look good, but i was rather disapointed - because you must shoot in ones - (i had not) - otherwise you will get this jiggering-smearing effect! The plugin looks for motion in the previous frame to calculate - so if you shoot in two's it wont calculate the corrrect amount of blur and instead of improving the scene it makes it look very fake :( - but like always its a try&error thing.. ;)
Hadn't considered that -- because for our current project we're already shooting ones. Our stop motion characters are meant to be composited with live action, so 24 pictures a second is a must.
An associate used it in the past to blur CG elements, also done on ones.
This is the pricing chart I was confused by.
I'm writing to the company, we'll see what they say about the possibility of a regular to pro upgrade.
Got this back from their sales dept.
Thanks for your interest. RSMB works on CS6 and yes, if you purchase the regular version first you can upgrade to Pro for the difference in price ($60).Here's the link to the upgrade in our web store in case you need it later:
