Haven't seen any updates recently about getting access going for the old SMA Message Board archive.  I really miss it, and need some of the information in it.  Just sayin'.

(Yeah, I don't know what it is - every great once in a while I just come up with these completely off the wall jokes..

Not so much an age thing though, more I've been hanging out on forums where that's the normal level of humor thing)

My grandfather was a Scottsman, by the name of Mack.  I used to have a website which used vBulletin, and I thought it was a really great product.  Much luck to Paul, and many thanks for undertaking the task.

I am hoping against hope that the old message board posts still exist, somewhere. . .  my anxiety level on this topic is very high now.  I think if we lose it, I will be much less likely to be on this board.

My offer to help still stands.  I have done many forum transfers from one type to another and I might still have code for a few that could be modified to speed this up.

Paul doesn't seem to be turning up on this new site, so he may not be aware of your offer.

I too would very much like to see the vast resources of the old site archived somewhere so they are accessible, and the sooner the better.

You can contact Paul thru the messaging function on this site if you'd like to offer assistance. He has all the files and is currently attempting to move the messages from the old DCScripts format to vBulletin format.

I used to run vbulletin on my old site on old master painting techniques.  I found it to be excellent.

OK, I think we have all been very patient, after all it has been over a year now. . . . I am afraid the vast Alexandria-like knowledge of the old board will never be available to us.  I MISS THE OLD BOARD!

Although it's dodgy sometimes (as it is with many sites), you can still access a nice chunk of the old boards through the Wayback Machine. The search function of it doesn't appear to work, but if you're up for some digging... there ya go. It's been crawled over since the beginning. Most captures are between '04 and '08 or so for this site. That's pretty awesome, actually... at least for quite a while, it never did very well with message boards.

I've used the Wayback Machine for ages. It's gotten much better and more reliable, and never seems to delete anything it captures.

Thank you for reminding me of the WayBac!  I had totally forgotten it existed, and me a fanatic for The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show!

However, being the petulant child I am, I still WANT IT ALL!

BTW, what is Paul's last name or username here?  I would like to contact him to see if I can get a copy of the files.

It seems like the Wayback caught everything except the protected forums and a few images hosted off-site, as far as I can tell. If there's enough info from the last capture of the old board, I wonder if that would help the "reconstruction" at all.

It appears that, as I expected, the idea of saving the old archives has faded.  Hopefully I will be proved wrong.  A very sad thing indeed.
