Animator and artist (and friend) Mike LeTendre has passed away.

It's so hard writing this.

Mike Letendre (Youneekusername from the original stop motion animation boards), known for his robot sculptures and his graphic drawings as well as the Radiohead-inspired film "Everything In Its Right Place", left the world Sunday night. He did not write a note, and no one knows what he was thinking in his last days. He was 27.

I met Mike through his blog sometime in 2008 and we struck up a friendship over a shared love of 90's alternative music. In 2009 we collaborated on the "Smile" music video for The Leano. It was a pleasure to know him, if only over the internet.

Mike was always patient and very kind, but seemed to be always suffering from an inner turmoil he didnt' talk about. In recent years he faced unexpected emotional and financial hardship and was overcome with depression. Mike sought help, but his pain was ultimately too much for him and  he finally surrendered to it this year.

I'll miss Mike, and the loss is a shock.  I wish that he would have stuck around. Very talented and charismatic person, and in that way he might have felt that he didn't belong. But you did, Mike. You made the world a better place while you were here. Everyone you knew misses you. I hope you are happy and peaceful wherever you are now.

Smile...

Sorry to hear this sad news.  Much too much of this happening these days.  Warmest thoughts to you, his family, and a all his friends; may you all find your place soon where you can accept, if never fully understand, his choice and find some peace in happy memory.

Best,

Ted
